A place to relax...A place to explore

From Villa Carmen you can take day trips to historic districts, antiques markets, and vineyards in La Rochelle, Cognac, Marennes, Rochefort, Saintes, and Bordeaux…or, you may choose to relax in the sun on the terrace and listen to the gentle waves slapping the shore.

Ile de Ré is just passed La Rochelle to the north by about an hour's drive. It is an island rich in culture, and summer home to many of France's celebrities and politicians.

General information about the department of Charente Maritime is available in english, french and german. The area is rich in history and offers chateaux (La Gataudiere, Chateau D'Oleron, La Roche Courbon), walled cities (Brouage, Talmont), and Roman architecture all within an hour's drive of Villa Carmen.
